Villa Windu Sari—the name is loosely translated as a beautiful place in time—is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Petitenget on Bali’s southwest coast. Designed by the internationally-acclaimed architect Glenn Parker, with interiors by Dean Kempnich and landscaping by Anto Kusnanto, the four-bedroom villa is characterised by an abundance of teakwood and marble. It is comprised of two shingle-roof pavilions housing a magnificent open-sided living and dining area, a cosy media room, an entertainment terrace, a gym, four bedrooms on two levels, a kitchen and a service area. This Bali property is set within a delightful walled garden complete with a feature swimming pool, and nestled within a safe and secure private estate, just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and a whole host of world-class restaurants. It is ideal for families with older children.

Living & Dining Pavilion

The spacious Living & Dining Pavilion at this Bali villa is characterised by a soaring roof, splendid honey-coloured teakwood panelling, a creamy-coloured Indian stone wall and a marble floor. Open on three sides, it is cooled by gentle breezes and ceiling fans and dramatically lit by pendulous copper lanterns. The solid teak dining table boasts banquet extensions enabling it to accommodate up to 14 guests. The living area is furnished with comfortable sofas and ottomans complemented by a glass coffee table with hidden lighting that creates a soft glow at night. A Sonos digital music system, with several thousand playtracks sorted into a wide variety of genres, can be controlled remotely from anywhere within the Living & Dining Pavilion, the garden or the poolside ‘bale’ pavilion.

Media Room

A marble staircase leads from the main Living & Dining area up to the Media Room. Elegantly furnished with deeply-cushioned upholstered armchairs and a long sofa, standard lamps, a large floor rug and a built-in desk that hugs the wall, this is a great place to escape and chill out in air-conditioned comfort. Wide windows overlook the pool and long curtains can be drawn to create a cosy ambience. The Media Room at this Bali villa is well equipped with a 50” LCD cable-channel TV, a DVD player and a Yamaha theatre sound system.

Bedrooms

The four bedrooms at this Bali villa are situated in a self-contained two-storey ‘sleeping pavilion’ positioned at one end of the swimming pool. Each bedroom features sliding glass doors with teakwood shutters, a timber veneer floor, a built-in cushioned window seat, and handmade coffered timber ceilings. Each is equipped with wardrobes, air-conditioning, a safe deposit box, a 32” TV with cable vision and an iPod docking station, complete with radio and quality speakers. Desks, chairs and reading lights are provided for the comfort of the guests. Jim Thompson silk feature fabrics make up the richly coloured cushion covers and the yielding wall panels behind the beds.

Located upstairs, the Master Bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed complemented by soft fabrics themed in shades of green. A shag-pile rug rests on the floor and a custom-built desk runs the length of the wall. Over this Bali villa the air-conditioned dressing area presents a twin vanity unit with ‘his & hers’ washbasins. Sliding doors open into the marble bathroom where glassless windows with wooden louvre shutters allow the cool breezes to permeate. The bathroom is equipped with a toilet, raindrop shower and a bathtub.

The other upstairs bedroom of this beautiful Bali villa is presided over by a king-size bed complemented by soft furnishings themed in shades of red. Glassless windows with wooden louvre shutters allow the cool breezes to permeate and afford a wonderful view of the neighbouring rice field, giving guests a privileged insight to rural Balinese life.
