Indonesia will host an international conference on climate change due to take place on the resort island of Nusa Dua Bali on December 3-12, a minister said.
The United Nations for Convention on Climate Change (UNCCC) has appointed Indonesia as the venue of the international conference, State Minister for the Environment Rachmat Witoelar said here Monday.
The conference which will bring together 10 thousand participants from 189 countries is regarded as a vital environment meeting because it will play a decisive role in shaping the global climate, he said.
“The conference will serve as a negotiation forum between developed countries and developing nations because there will be transfer of huge funds from developed countries to developing nations to address the global climate,” he said.
He said in the next 10 years the world community is expected to spend US$20 billion to US$30 billion on a project designed to stop global warming which is blamed for climate change.(Antara)
